What TO Bring... and What NOT to Bring

Katie’s House Foundation provides a clean and comfortable semi-furnished home which is also temperature controlled. Each houses includes internet and utilities, monitored home security, and a gardener. Roommates can share all of the common areas. 

WHAT TO BRING

  • Essential documents: valid photo ID, and important documents such as your insurance card, social security card, or birth certificate.

  • Personal care items: toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and other hygiene products.

  • Clothing and shoes: 7-10 days' worth of clothes and one or two pairs of shoes. NOTE: All cloth linens must be put straight into the dryer for 30 minutes on high heat upon entry to the house. 

  • Prescribed medications: be sure to keep them in their original containers and bring copies of your prescriptions. You can keep them in your personal safe which is attached to your dresser.

  • Money: you may want to bring a small amount of money with you. You can keep it in your personal safe which is attached to your dresser.

  • Laptop, Phone, and Chargers: You can bring your laptop if you need it for school or work. Also, you can bring your phone and charger to stay in contact with family and friends.

  • A photo for inspiration or a few things that bring you joy.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

  • Furniture - Please ask and wait to see how much space is available. A personal fridge or personal heater is not allowed. We are mindful of potential fire hazards and emergency exit pathways.

  • Weapons.

  • Non-prescription alcohol and drugs.

  • Valuables to include expensive jewels, lots of cash, or family heirlooms. 

  • Do not bring anything known to carry bugs or other debris.

If you want to bring additional items after one month, please ask.
